John O’Flaherty
John was born and raised in the Northern Virginia suburbs outside Washington DC and graduated from James Madison University in 1995. After a few years selling insurance in his hometown John jumped at the chance to join his father Dan in real estate and moved to Fort Lauderdale in 1998.
John and his father Dan worked together for 15 years until Dan’s retirement in 2012. After a few years of mostly going it alone John realized he needed help and The O’Flaherty Team was born.
Since 2015 the team has consistently ranked among the very top producers in Fort Lauderdale and has ranked within the top 150 teams in the entire state of Florida among all brokerages as ranked by the Wall Street Journal.
John is known as “Mr. Coral Ridge” and while serving all of Fort Lauderdale, John and his team have been the top agents in the Bayview Drive area (home to the Coral Ridge neighborhoods) for over 15 years consecutively.
John has negotiated and sold over 2,000 homes and still loves the business. While the real estate business is always evolving with technology and marketing trends the basics of customers service and strong negotiating for your clients is timeless. John believes in doing “whatever it takes” and straightforward communication as evidenced by the simple philosophy of “I might not always tell you what you want to hear but I will always tell you the truth”.
In 2021 John joined Compass Realty and has never been happier. The combination of world class marketing and the best technology platform in the business.
John’s hobbies include golf, coaching his daughters soccer team and spending time with family and friends over a good meal (and a good bottle of wine!). John enjoys telling stories, laughing and impressing no one with his in depth and useless knowledge of old movie quotes.
John has been married to Jenny O’Flaherty since 2011. They are parents to their daughter Abigail and Jenny’s son Kevin. In 2021 they became grandparents to beautiful Mila Rose Gutierrez. John and Jenny are also loving parents to two beautiful Labradoodles (the best breed ever per Google).
